TK Maxx, the fashion and home product department store retailer, has appointed Wieden+Kennedy as its creative and strategic lead agency across Europe.
After a competitive pitch over the Summer, the agency is delighted to win the business. The pitch team had very much immersed themselves in the brand and shopped their way through multiple format stores and the dot com site. All in the name of research, of course.
This win marks another opportunity for W+K to partner with Mindshare as the media account remains unaffected.
Deborah Dolce, the group brand and marketing director at TJX Europe, which owns TK Maxx, said: “Wieden+Kennedy’s strategic thinking and bold, creative work are outstanding and we look forward to this new partnership.”
It was a true Summer of fun for us getting to know the team at TK Maxx. From a store based briefing where we jumped into their buyers' hot seats, through to a hotly contested final round creative shoot out last month, our new friends at TK Maxx have been a delight to work with.
All of which is exciting news as we will be seeing a lot more of them now as we take up the reigns as their lead strategic and creative agency. Our scope will cover all the European countries where TK Maxx currently retail and we will work with them to launch in new markets as their business develops.
We are incredibly excited about the work we pitched and are already underway to creating the Spring 2016 campaign across Europe. This is how TK broke the exciting need to us.
And this is how we responded. Spot Paul Colman mortified at the the all agency shot.
We are all off to find ourselves even more big labels for small prices to celebrate over the weekend…

Wieden+Kennedy London has been appointed as new creative agency for English crisp and snack maker Tyrrells, without a competitive pitch. The agency will lead creative communications starting immediately. The decision to appoint a new creative agency comes after the appointment of new marketing director, Jocelyn McNulty.
The company is famous for its hand-cooked English crisps, which are made in small batches on their Herefordshire farm using skin-on local potatoes and all-natural ingredients. Since its founding in 2002, Tyrrells has expanded its range to include popcorn, tortilla chips and nibbles. Tyrrells’ award-winning crisps are sold internationally in 10 key markets.
Jocelyn McNulty, Tyrrells Marketing Director, says: “Wieden + Kennedy is a creative agency at the very top of its game and joins our other specialist agencies: Big Fish who leads our Pack Design and Spider who handle our PR giving us a premier division marketing support team. Wieden + Kennedy really seem to understand the Tyrrells brand – especially when they were knee deep in mud on our Herefordshire potato farm! We are delighted to be working with them.”
Neil Christie, Managing Director of Wieden+Kennedy London, comments “I love Tyrrells. Especially the sweet chilli and red pepper flavour. This win means I can now eat loads of them and call it work.”
