Whistleblowers @ W+K

Emma, Darren, Bella & Katherine appeared in episode 5 of ITV’s whistleblower’s last night – our TV department was used for the ‘hectic ad agency’ scene and the producers needed some extras to play random office workers… Excellent direction on the day produced stunning results – Daz the method actor!

new planner

Richard_summers

Richard Summers. He sounds like a lounge singer, and maybe he is, but he’ll mostly be planning for his supper here at W+K.

Richard actually started on Monday, but he’s been too busy to sit still for a photo. Eventually we got him (above).

Richard has joined us from Lowe, and will be part of the planning team on Nokia, as well as being our shiny new Emeco planner (a massive upgrade from that McCrudden guy, who is being sent to the penal colony down under).

we got the power!

Power_150

Check it out! In the Advertising Age Power 150 of the world’s top media and marketing blogs Welcome to Optimism ranks an amazing…er…110. I suppose that’s not really very powerful. I guess it’s comparable to the record chart performance of, say, Half Man Half Biscuit. But, wait, they actually rank 360 blogs, so at least we’re in the top third.

Must try hard to be more powerful.

Manifesto

As holders of the Rugby World Cup, England entered this year’s competition knowing that it would be a challenge to retain the trophy.  We developed a campaign that showed the determination of the team not to relinquish their title.  The campaign ran in national press, outdoor sites and online. On ITV.com, we have a dedicated hub that allows fans to view interviews with the players as well as download the ‘white cliffs’ poster and ‘not without a fight’ manifesto.

Rugby_site

This weekend sees the final push for the trophy. We have created a website for fans to hear the England team talk about the final against South Africa and upload a good luck message to the team.

pizza hut in the british museum

Lunchtime_revolution

We’ve had a call from the British Museum.

They’re planning to feature our Lunchtime Revolution campaign for Pizza Hut in one of their exhibitions. I think that’s a first for us.

They’re looking at Chinese revolutionary art through the decades and how in the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s it’s had the political sting taken out of it and artists and even big brands are now being inspired by it. The curator told us:

The appropriation of revolutionary imagery by such a ‘Western’ global organisation like Pizza Hut is quite striking – it mirrors the ‘Great Criticism’ works by Chinese artist Wang Guangyi (who juxtaposed images from Chinese propaganda posters with Coca Cola, Nikon and other big brand names).’
